Lab Attendant/Greeter

Lake1Stop Partner

 
  What's in it for me?

Did you know that over three hundred career minded people come into Lake1Stop every week?  Working in the one-stop will be an effective enhancement to your outreach and recruiting  programs.  An agency schedule will be posted on the Lake1Stop website so customers may know when your representative will be present at the one-stop.

One-Stop staff and partner Lab Attendants will advise customers to come in on your scheduled day to meet with you.

Working in the one-stop projects a positive community image for all one-stop partners.

 
  Duties and Responsibilities
  • Please clock in and out every time you come to the one-stop
    • Swipe in at your assigned clock.
    • If you do not have your bar coded photo id card call Dana Canzone at extension 4358 and she will issue you a card and instruct you on time clock use.
  • Station yourself so you may easily view customers entering the lab
  • Maintain outgoing, friendly and cheerful professional personality
  • Always maintain a business-professional appearance
  • You will be cross-trained to fill in other duties as required
  • Knowledge of computer software installed on lab computers
  • Instruct customers in the use of fax machine
    • There is a sign above the fax machine with operating instructions
  • Instruct customers in the use of copier
    • To automatically change to bond paper (located in copier Bin 3) just install original to be copied parallel to wall and the copier will feed the bond paper that is loaded in Bin 3
      • Bond paper is stored in the cabinets below the copier
      • Envelopes are store in the cabinets above the mail boxes
  • Assist job seekers with professional resume creation
    • WinWay Resume software is installed on Lab computers
    • After creation the resume can be migrated to Microsoft Word and save on a floppy disk in Rich Text Format (.rtf)
  • Assist job seekers with Internet, local and "networking" job search techniques
    • Explore www.lake1stop.org website and all the links to become familiar with the available resources
  • Provide encouragement to job seekers
  • Assist job seekers in the Resource Room
  • Meet with customers to explain the assessment process
  • Interview customers face-to-face and review the various testing measures and the results to form an Individual Service Strategy
  • Provide employment and training related counseling and identify supportive community services for customers
    • Make referrals when appropriate
  • Administer job search/job placement services
  • Service employers job orders, search files, select & refer qualified job applicants according to employer requirements
  • Select & refer eligible applicants to special programs or services and perform follow-up activities on all referrals
  • Refer to other services where appropriate
  • Schedule, administer and interpret written and computer generated tests of aptitude, interest and ability
  • Assist job seekers with mock interviewing
  • Work with job seekers to create Individual Employment Plan
  • Inform job seekers about Internet, local and "networking" job search techniques
  • Schedule Interpreters when required

  First-Time Job Seekers

  • Greet and instruct and/or help to complete a brief universal registration form.  (Form# Ureg-12)
    • The forms are available in the Resource Room on the Gray shelf
    • The forms are also available to be printed or downloaded from the Staff section of the website (Form# Ureg-12)
    • Have the visitor sign a WIA Discrimination Complaint Procedure Form if possible
      • The forms are available in the Resource Room on the Gray shelf
  • When the registration is complete the greeter will direct the person to view an orientation that describes the available services
    • The Orientation may be viewed on any workstation in the lab or as a paper document that is located in literature bin#2 in the Resource Room
  • After viewing the orientation perform a brief interview to discuss his/her interests, concerns and career goals
    • Make recommendations for next step
    • Make referrals to other partners or community service organizations as required
      • Use the Universal Referral Form (Form# Uref-14)
        • The forms are available in the Resource Room on the Gray shelf
        • The forms are also available to be printed or downloaded from the Staff section of the website (Form# Uref-14)
    • If the new customer is seeking ITA (training) funds he/she must first determine Federal Student Aid eligibility by applying at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
      • They will need last year's federal tax return

  • After the interview escort the new customer on brief tour of the facility
    • Instruct the customer to sign in whenever entering the learning lab

  Returning Job Seekers

  • Remind returning Job Seekers to sign in and will be free to utilize the facility and tools as desired. 
  • Remind them that Lab attendants will be available for assistance.

  Employers

  • Employers will be directed to the person they are here to see. 
  • If this is the Employer's first visit the Greeter/Lab Attendant or Receptionist will contact a Job Developer or Placement Specialist, or Employment Service Counselor to notify them of the visitor's arrival. 
  • Lab Attendant/Greeters will be offer
    • A brief tour of the facility
    • An employer information packet that includes a CD with an auto-running orientation and highlights of business services (when available)

  Lab Rules

  • No food or drink is permitted in the computer lab
    • There is a break room for snacks with a refrigerator & soft drink vending machine for your use
  • Please leave coats and jackets in the break room
  • You are not permitted to visit any pornographic sites from the lab
  • You are not permitted to download any programs in the lab
  • You may not install any programs on the lab computers
  • Cell phones may only be used in the Resource Room or outside

  Lake1Stop Job Board

  • When people submit their resumes their names & addresses will NOT show online. 

    • Their e-mail address will be displayed. 

    • No resumes can be posted without a valid e-mail address

  • Explain to customers that they must monitor their e-mail account frequently to watch for employer inquiries.

  • Help individuals register for Lakeland Community College's job board account access (software for job board is similar to Lake1Stop)

  • Resumes stay online for 90 days and are automatically removed. 

    • Customers must repost their resume after 90 days.

  • Job Openings stay online for 60 days and are automatically removed unless employer manages the account and removes it earlier

    • Employers may repost at any time which changes the posting date to the date of the change

  • A list of Lake County Workforce Investment Board WIA approved training providers and courses may be viewed, printed or downloaded here
