Jump Start Your Job Search (90 minutes)
"An Orientation to Lake1Stop Services"
Attend this session to learn about the new workshops and job search assistance available to you through Lake1Stop. Receive a Job Search Planning Tool to guide you through an effective job search to that next new job.

NOTE: this session is a pre-requisite for attending the workshops or meeting with a Job Placement Specialist.

Applications & Job Search Letters (3hours)
Learn to avoid some common mistakes when completing employment applications and give a great first impression to an employer; how to write an attention-getting cover letter to send with a resume, marketing letters that will open doors to unadvertised opportunities, and follow-up letters that set you apart from other job applicants.

Resume Development (3 hours)
Covers resume content, selection of best resume format, highlighting accomplishments, tips on deciding what to include and what to leave out.  Make the employer want to talk to you by writing a strong, focused resume!

Interviewing Techniques (6 hours)
Learn to “sell yourself” to an employer! This workshop covers the secrets of preparing for interviews, handling difficult questions, knowing what questions to ask, evaluating a job offer and negotiating salary and benefits.

Uncovering the Hidden Job Market
(3 hours)
Learn how to maximize the effectiveness of your job search by using a combination of research and networking to find jobs that are not advertised and to meet the people who can help you get them.

Take This Job & Keep It! (2 hours)
Keeping a job is often all about accepting the right job in the first place.  Learn what you need to know to make the right decision, and then how to handle the first weeks on the job to make a successful adjustment.

Introduction to the Internet (3 hours)
Learn to use Internet search tools effectively, create an e-mail account, attach documents, conduct Labor Market research, register and post your résumé on job search web sites.

Introduction to Computers (9 hours)
Introduces computer hardware and software and basics of working in MS Windows and Word; designed for individuals with limited experience on computers; teaches the skills needed to prepare a resume and cover letter using MS Word.
