
Summer Youth
Work Experience Program
The American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has allocated funds to assist
economically disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 24 to
obtain work readiness skills through the Youth Summer Work
Experience Program.
Youth must be
considered low income as a member of a family which receives cash
public assistance; or is a member of a family which has a six-month
income below the poverty level or 70% of the lower living standard;
is a member of a household eligible to receive food stamps; or is a
foster child. If a youth has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or
is disabled, the family income is disregarded and only the youth’s
income will be counted towards the eligibility.
Program
operations are being handled by Catholic Charities Community
Services of Lake County on behalf of the Lake County Commissioners
and the Lake County Workforce Investment Board.
Snider Blake
Personnel is the payroll vendor for this activity and the employer
of record.
Catholic
Charities, the Program Operator for this activity is housed at 84 N.
State Street in Painesville. Information will NOT be available at
the Catholic Charities office in Painesville or at the Lake County
Department of Job & Family Services.
In school youth,
ages 16 & 17 will be paid at the rate of $7.30 per hour and the
summer work experience will run from June 15, 2009 through August
30, 2009
Out-of-School
youth, ages 18-24 will be paid at the rate of $9.00 per hour. The
work experience program for these youth will begin on June 15, 2009
and will end on September 11, 2009.
